Great Content but Poor Format

Jim Rohn is without a doubt one of the foremost success thinkers and writers alive today. I own a company that distributes all his written and audio / visual work and I have used his philosophy over a number of years to revolutionise my life. His message works. The content of this tape programme works, there is no doubt about it. The problem with this audio session is that the way it is recorded is not conducive to enjoyment of the subject. It gets tiresome and boring.
The premise of the content is as the title suggests, Taking Charge of Your Life. The set covers all the basics of Rohn's philosophy; The 5 Major Pieces to the Life Puzzle, How to Affect People with Words, Bridging the Communication Gap, The Magic of Persuasion, Leadership and Building a Great Team. Jim Rohn's success formula is centred around the personal change needed to create success. In essence this programme will teach you about making pro active, personal philosophical change. It covers all the areas needed to bring about such change. It is therefore very difficult to critise the fabulous content. It will change your life if you act upon the information.
The drawback to this programme, is that the material is presented and contrived within a studio setting. It is polished by Nightingale Conant producers. Anyone who has listened to Rohn live, through the brilliant; WEEKEND SEMINAR, MAKING OF A LEADER or CHALLENGE TO SUCCEED tape programmes, will be very disapointed with this one. Jim looses his spontinaity by being produced. There is very little wit, fun or off the cuff remarks that make Rohn one of the most brilliant public speakers, alive today. My suggestion is to forget this programme, the aforementioned prorammes offer the same message, but with a "Live" Rohn at his very best.
To summarise, the content is great, but the studio orientated "produced" style is not conducive to your enjoyment. I truely feel, that the point to an audio programme versus a book is for the listener to by fully entertained by the presentation, while still getting the content message. This proramme will bore the listener to death. If this was the only audio set Rohn had produced, you should buy it. As he has produced better audio sets than this one, forget Take Charge of Your Life and buy the WEEKEND SEMINAR, MAKING of a LEADER, or CHALLENGE TO SUCCEED. It will be money well spent.

Timeless Principles

I thoroughly enjoyed this program. Sure, the principles Jim talks about are pretty much commonsense, but its the way he presents them that makes them so profound.
Over the past year I must have listened to this program about 30 times (I do a lot of listening while I run of an evening) and each time I listen to it I get something new, get some new insights and perspectives.
Unlike the other reviewer, I actually quite liked the studio format of the program - it made me feel "part of the crowd", and not like the presentation was canned.
I highly recommend this program to anyone. I got mine from the library - so the price was deinitely right!!
