It's not about the movie, because it's a new story

What I like about this book is that it's not about the movie, because it's a new story. Okay, so maybe there are two minor spoilers though, with the other only a subtle reference, but Nick is a cop here now. Nick doesn't seem to like wearing his uniform though. There was only one illustration where he was in uniform. So some spoilers but nothing like the Big Golden Book (Which I also like).
I bought quite a number of Zootopia books actually and this one stands out because it's a new story. Life after the movie.
One thing I noticed peculiar about the story is the mention of a place that's pretty central to the story but it's not mentioned in the Zootopia Handbook, nor at least in the map. That's your world-building there.

Charming, and essential for fans

A nice, clever little companion/sequel story to the movie. (New content! Hardcore fans and those who enjoy the "worldbuilding" aspect of the feature film will not want to pass it up!) It's true to the source material in terms of settings, characterization and themes, and should definitely please fans of the movie (of all ages) who would like to see what Nick and Judy are up to in their professional lives following the movie's conclusion. We even get to meet some new types of mammals that weren't featured in the film!
The stories are relatively simple, but still managed to remain unpredictable and entertaining, even to my adult eyes. The illustrations are by the film's own art director, Cory Loftis. They're absolutely charming and complement the stories well!
My only complaint about this little book is that it was not long enough! I'd gladly pick up another installment, should they decide to make this into a series.
